Week 23

The baby is getting bigger and bigger. I like to call him flipper since I can feel him flipping or moving - sort of like a fish. I can't wait for our Christmas break! I realize that I over extended myself - especially with being pregnant and am just waiting for some down time. Being pregnant takes a little more out of you, even if you don't realize it until later! I just finished eating a slice of pumpkin pie for breakfast. As desserts go, I think it was a more healthy choice - hey, the baby got his vitamin a for the day! But I have to stick to a pretty strict diet from our birthing classes so the baby gets everything he needs for proper development.

We are still thinking about baby names and have a few that we like, but the search goes on. We are both getting very excited for the little guy's arrival! I am reading some childbirth books to prepare myself for the big day. Sometimes I can't believe that this little creature swimming around inside my stomach is going to come out and be a our real-live baby boy!

It's been a while!

It has been about a month since my last entry! Now we know that the baby is a BOY! While looking at the ultrasound, I told the doctor that I could not make out anything except for the head. I asked him what he was looking at and he replied, "Well, it's a penis!" So now is time to look at baby boy names!!!

Jose just finished a semester long English class in two months and we are now going back to some sense of normalcy - the normalcy where you try to get everything done before a baby arrives - my master's thesis, my national board certification, and of course the fun stuff - getting ready for the baby!

I am so thankful for such amazing friends these days. One of the teachers at my school is giving us her crib. My vice principal gave me three huge bags of cute maternity clothes! So many wonderful friends are volunteering to throw us baby showers! We are truly blessed!

Now off to church. As soon as I figure out how to scan things, I'll put the utlrasounds on here. Maybe if your lucky, a picture of my growing belly!

Breaking the News

Jose and I went on an amazing vacation to Ojai and to my parent's condo to get a little r & r. It was so great to be away from LA, work, and our lives. A guest speaker came and did a sermon on giving thanks. It was so nice to stop and thank God for all of the blessings in our lives - something that is quite obvious, but somehow, tends to get skipped over at times. I am so thankful for an amazing husband and a little bun in the oven! God has truly blessed me.

We met up for dinner with my parents in Santa Cruz to "break the news." First we gave them some wedding prints (shame on us, I know!) and then gave them the cutest Todd Parr books called the Grandmother Book and the Grandfather Book. My mom was totally in shock and asked, "Are you trying to tell us something?" No mom, we just thought this would be a funny gift. Of course we are trying to tell you something! I am not sure how my mom took it. She was shocked nonetheless. I think it was easier news for my dad.

Now we are back from the vacation and I am getting ready to start school. Only 3 more days off!!!!!! I am madly running errands and trying to accomplish a variety of things.

So, last night I was sleeping and thought, "Ahhh! What if the blog sent invites to all of my friends on my email account?" We are keeping this whole pregnancy on the dl right now, so that would not be such an exciting way to share it with people. Right now, I thought this would be a really exciting way for me to journal the pregnancy and the updates on us, to be shared in a bit! Luckily, no comments.

So far I have gained about 4 pounds. I am trying to wear all of my clothes that will no longer fit me in a matter of weeks, so if I am wearing some really slinky dress and you see me at the grocery store, you'll understand!

Off to celebrate our niece's 17th b-day and then off to church!

Week 9

Exciting news! We found out that we are pregnant about three weeks ago. I felt so great the first few weeks, ok, maybe a little tired. But now... yikes! I think I can't wait until this first trimester is over! I am so tired all of the time and I almost think that I can feel my uterus growing. We have decided not to tell anyone yet, but to wait until the first trimester is over. The positive about this is that we get our own little secret and we can enjoy it on our own. Also, we want to wait to tell the parents first and they live over 350 miles away. We just don't think that a phone call will do this news justice. My parents will be grandparents for the first time. Jose's side is a lot easier because they live so close and there are already three grandkids. So, we break the news to everyone in about 2 weeks and then make the announcement to our other friends and family. ...Oh right, the negative,, (is this pregnancy brain?) is that my friends think I'm weird. Unable to salsa dance more than 2 songs - they were fast alright- in a row, my friend told me how out of shape I was! If only he knew!!! I am a little worried about getting my heart rate too high, so mostly I have tapered down on my excercises - yes, I am still excercising, just not doing spinning classes and crazy workouts.

Well, I think this concludes my first blogging session. I am off to continue relaxing and maybe watch an episode of The Simpsons and knit! I can't believe I only have two more weeks of summer left! How about I don't think about it?
